Despite being a country with a population of 1.3 billion, India faces a blood shortage of 3 million unit. The problem can be addressed if an additional two percent of the population donate blood, as quoted by health experts. Statistics show that there are 234 million major operations in India, 63 million trauma-induced surgeries, 31 million cancer procedures and 10 million pregnancy induced complications which require blood transfusion. There are also various disorders like Sickle Cell Anemia, Thalassemia, Aplastic Anemia and Blood Cancer that require repeated blood transfusion. As per records, ten thousand thalassemic patients are incresing every year .
#RedRevolution was started to cope up with the shortage of blood. Blood shortage is a challenge which is not only suffered by the patient but the patient's family as well. Red Revolution was the first initiative of You Can Foundation which was embarked by our founder, Mr. Monis Shamsi who has been witnessing the same challenge when a member of his family was diagnosed by Thalassemia.
Through this initiative, we aim to overcome blood shortage and to cater to this growing requirement, blood donation camps are conducted in colleges ,roads, areas and companies to keeps the blood bank up to stock, and educate people about blood donation and dispel any misconceptions they may have about it.
